Summary:
Transfield Worley Solutions conducted a review of the client’s operational and maintenance database in their legacy system to identify improvements of the data in preparation of migrating into SAP PM environment. The legacy system is made up of several major assets.
Following the review, Transfield Worley Solutions was asked to
- Rationalise current recurring maintenance
activities on client’s legacy system, so that maximum benefits in
implementing SAP PM can be achieved. This involved standardising
recurring work orders where practicable and grouping maintenance
activities together with planned frequencies, tools, time required by
internal and external resources.
- Rationalise and align current coding on
client’s legacy system into one corporate set.
- Create a functional location hierarchy from the
flat line structure within the legacy system. This involved
standardising and aligning with ISO and other relevant standards.
- To provide training in the use of SAP-PM in
line with new business processes.
- To produce a Quality / Audit Plan which will
ensure all relevant data will be replicated in SAP PM.
- Full documentation to support migration requirement decisions.
Task Team Scope
- Identify method of developing efficient
recurring maintenance plans.
- Standardise Task Descriptions across each asset
where possible.
- Ensure current PM Work Order scheduled dates
are complied with.
- Maintenance Plan amendments continuously
updated during implementation.
- Codes in current PM Work Orders unchanged
- Procedure contents and format unchanged.
Asset Team Scope
- Functional Location / Bill of Material: Develop
a hierarchy structure from the existing flat line structure. Reviewed
all existing BOM’s, recommendations were made on future data quality
improvements.
- Equipment Types / Classes / Characteristics:
Develop a “corporate” list from the legacy systems, align with ISO and
other relevant standards. Develop corporate templates and assign values
for all equipment types and maintainable items.
- Catalogues: Develop a “corporate” list of object, damage and cause codes from the legacy systems, align with ISO and other relevant standards
Outcomes & Benefits
The key benefits to the clients were:
- Standardise, align all facilities into one
“corporate” system
- Standardisation across Facilities improves
benchmarking possibilities
- Better coordination of maintenance actions and
possible increase in system availability.
- Reduction in number of Work Orders created from
recurring Maintenance Task Lists due to the rationalisation process.
- Reduced planning efforts by using pre-defined Operations from Maintenance Task Lists.
