Transfer Modelling and Transfer Analysis
Bulk solids handling is a critical role in determining the cost effectiveness of any
mining operation or process plant. Modelling in the early stages of of the design process
helps optimise the design and save costly rework, repair or replacement later in the life of
the project.
Transfield Worley Solutions help you:
At the design stage:
- predict new system behaviour before installation
- optimise designs for specific conditions
- trial new technology with minimal risk
- identify probable maintenance requirements
- minimise safety exposure
For existing transfer systems:
- improve safety
- improve performance
- isolate and identify problems with
- liner, belt and idler wear
- belt loading problems
- ore spillage
- ore on belts
Bulk solids handling plays a critical role in the cost effectiveness of any mining
operation or process plant.
Direct costs associated with analysis and modelling of transfers during the design may be
small compared to redesign or replacement at later stages.
Transfield Worley Solutions have extensive experience in the analysis and modelling of
chute designs.
For existing transfers
- on-site measurements of transfers and collection of site operating data
- on-site observation of flow behaviour and wear patterns
- construction of 1:10 scale model
- flow trials to identify flow conditions and potential problem areas in existing chutes
- in conjunction with your engineering team, carry out design modifications to the model and perform flow trials to improve performance of that transfer
- report on modelling outcomes with recommendations. A video which shows how the transfer
performs under the various operating conditions can be provided, and drawings of the
revised design produced, if required
- review transfer after six months to ensure the performance of the transfer is as per
model expectations
For new transfer designs
- construct a model from the design drawings and the site operating data provided by the designer
- conduct modelling (as described above for existing transfers)
